Planète Cinq: Mars

Mars is the physical embodiment and conduit of the cosmic force mortals call "Drive". In my world, he existed as the aspect of Archangel Qemuel. 

Connected with the being known as Aries, he is also attributed with Passion and Battle. Fire makes a trio. He also holds the portal to Pluto, and as their watery associations bleed through, Mars is often misconceived as a co-ruler of Scorpio.

Further correspondences include the metal Iron, Red candles, The Tower - Death - The Emperor tarot cards, Garnet, Red Jasper, the Ram, Horses, Bears, Wolves, Devil's Claw Root, Nettle, Rue, Blessed Thistle, Wormwood, Tuesday, musical note of G, and the Hebrew script.

Qemuel resides in the Emanation of Gevurah, the essence of judgment and limitation.

Mars has been incorrectly attributed with War for quite some time. In this corrupted world, I can understand how that came to be. The true power of Mars is the drive and strength to protect what matters - family, friends, lovers, companions, nature, life. For eons, witches and magickal practitioners have used the pentagram for protection, unaware that it is a symbol of Qemuel. And in another sense, Drive and Passion speaks to sexuality, goals, work, the zest of living life. 

Qemuel's Sigil

In my vision when I connected with Mars, I woke on the surface of Mars, immediately grasped by the hand and hoisted up by Qemuel himself. He handed me a sword as he took up his own and fought evil beasts back to back. We were brothers protecting each other. After the battle, he smiled and we embraced tightly. He had short black hair, was average human height, slightly muscular, and wore a breastplate with the pentagram upon it.
